CANReader 2.5 is a tool to monitor and display raw automotive CAN data communications. It connects via WiFi to a CANLink WLAN device built by RM Michaelides Software & Elektronik GmbH. The CANLInk WLAN device is connected to the physical CAN bus.

The iOS device can connect directly to the CANLink WLAN with an ad hoc WiFi connection or they can connect over a network through WiFi access points. The IP Address of the CANLink WLAN device must be input on the iOS device to establish the connection. (If an ad hoc connection is used, make sure you input the iOS device’s static IP address before making the connection. Setting it afterward doesn’t work.)

Navigation Gestures
  • The tab bar is toggled by double tapping with two fingers on any of the screens. It will disappear after 5 seconds without being used.
  • On the data display tab action menus are activated using a double tap with one finger.
  • Double taps in the middle of a display object will activate the menu for that object.
  • Double taps between objects and around the edges of the screen activate the menu for the page.
  • Press and hold on a display object or empty section of screen will let you select a display item for area.
  • The page is divided into a grid which can be set by short side and long side length.
Note: To many pages with to many items will bog down the device. Since this is a "real-time" display of data, bandwidth must be used wisely. The single value displays don't use much, but the Message Monitor object uses a lot.

Annotated screen shots below provide a quick tutorial on the basic functionality. More detailed training is available. Please contact us for details and pricing.
